What's important in a fighting game? Versatility precision and control. It's well known that motion control was not implemented in SSBB for this reason. And of course, all types of players will play this game, so let's make it accessible for everyone. Arcade Sticks This is very important for the PS4 port. Experts play on sticks and not controllers. The controls should be accustomed to fit on the 8 main buttons of a PS4 controller(shoulder and face) to be usable on a stick. PSASBR has a similar preset. Lefties and southpaw layout. I have several leftie friends, and they can attest to the necessity of leftie controls when Brawling, in Battle Royales, or committing crimes and Injustice in the land. HAHA SEE WHAT I DID THERE See here for a comprehensive diagram.Oculus Rift for PC support. Very unnecessary, but hey, it says many things when The Dev Team Thinks Of Everything. External controller support. Rare as it is, some play PC games with console controllers. I have a friend with a device that allows him the use of a frickin WII REMOTE ON A PS3. And he also uses it to play Terraria(Strange, Isn't it!) on Steam. Point is, support for 360 and PS3 controllers would be welcome. Anything Else?

The PlayStation 4 version will support the Sony DualShock 4 + licensed 3rd party Bluetooth controllers. Also, the Razer PlayStation 4 arcade stick will be supported. The Xbox One version will support the native Xbox1 controller and the older Xbox 360 controllers with the controller attachment dongle. We are also working to implement in added functionality to utilize the licensed Killer Instinct fight sticks for use in Indie Assault. The Steam/ PC/MAC version will support every controller input you could desire for a fighting video game. Edit: this is a good topic for Philocypher to reply to.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement the fight stick. I doubt it's exclusive to killer instinct. It's more than likely just registeres as a wired controller. Like most Fight sticks.

Will the PC version work well with Gamecube controllers too? Gamecube controllers have triggers that are both analog and digital (in Melee you can soft shield by only using the analog part, as well as L-cancel, but for airdodges and regular shielding you need to use the digital part), so perhaps having separate options for each would be a good idea, as it's the best controller for platform fighters in mine and many other players' opinions.

maxfalcon- I am going to go out on a limb and say No. I nor my Lead Programmer have ever used the Gamecube USB adapter and find that adding that additional functionality would be for a very limited niche crowd already. Hm, I really enjoyed my Sony DualShock 3 for PSABR and to be honest the Xbox One controller feels oww so good in your hands when landing those Ultra Combo's in Killer Instinct. So my votes are for the DS3 and Xbox One controllers for being the better defined controllers for Indie Assault. The DS3 works on all PC's!!!

I've tried playing Smash with other controllers and it just doesn't feel the same, it's layout is great for it, only needs a couple of small tweaks. Never seen any technical player use a non-Gamecube controller in Project M. Alright though, guess I'll have to find a workaround.

I've only seen one that in any resembles the Gamecube's unfortunately. And I have their NES-like controller, which is rather low-quality imo. They were both made by Retrolink. I personally use Mayflash's adapter, and am unsure if there is anything beyond controller modifications to fix the problem. It sounds to me like they're not going to add an extra input separating the soft shield (?)/idk what else and shield/dodge actions, giving options to add either to analog inputs (or however that works, some games I can't map a button to the digital part unless the trigger is already pressed right before that section otherwise it thinks I'm trying to map the analog section). The Gamecube controller's triggers are 2 parts, analog and digital (when it clicks is the digital part), meaning that a player can light shield/L-cancel by only pressing on the trigger softly, but can shield/dodge by pressing all the way. Brawl didn't have this, as it could have possibly alienated players using other controllers from soft shielding.

Yeah, I'm with you on the GC controller. I don't feel 100% unless I'm holding the GC controller. I wonder how hard it would be to make an adapter for GC to PC...
